I've been reading the book Rediscovering the Kingdom by Myles Munroe. It is very good, and has been helping me understand what God had in mind when he created the heavens and the earth so long ago.
On page 88, Myles writes:
In truth, it does not matter what other people say or think, or even what we think of ourselves. What matters is how God sees us, and He sees us as leaders and rulers in the earthly domain. He created us with purpose and designed us with the necessary abilities to fulfill our destiny.
It is so easy to look to other people and their opinions to determine what we think about ourselves. It starts very early as a child where we look to our parents on how to view ourselves. Depending on your childhood circumstances, this may have been positive, or abusive, or something in between. Even the best parents have difficulties, because as a fallen human race, who chose independence rather trusting in God's word, we tend to think highly of ourselves. As we grow older, our friends become the source of understanding what my interests are, the labels that I take in, the declarations about my life and the direction it is taking.
But the quote above reminds us that none of that matters. God is the one who designed us, and He is the one that determines who we are, and what we have been designed for.
What have you been designed for? What does God say about you? Are you discovering what God has declared over you in His Word?
Take time today to meditate on the scriptures - especially the I AM scriptures - which declare who the sons of God are. Look at the dominion here on earth that God has given you to govern, and start asking the questions of how to lead and rule in these domains.
